Mark up what you read the way you would mark up paper — including the files on your own disk.
Two pieces, one idea
Reading and keeping what you read are the same act, split across two tools that do not talk to each other. Notestark closes that gap — starting with the highlighter, and then the place the highlights go.

Nothing leaves your device — unless you sign in
Without an account the extension makes no network request at all, and your marks are stored locally, never in a cookie. Signing in is optional: it syncs your marks to the Notestark app and your other devices, encrypted on your device before they leave it. The privacy policy says, field by field, what is sent and what the server can and cannot read.
